Abstract

In the study we investigated the effects of fracture of the tibia on robustness of the humerus in pre-senile rats with strep- tozotocin-induced diabetes. We found out that fracture of the tibia results in decrease pf robustness of the humerus. Manifestations peak was observed by the 30th and the 60th day after intervention. In diabetes robustness features de- pend on duration of the experiment. By the 90th day ultimate strength, elasticity modulus, and fracture energy were lower than those of the controls by 13.05, 7.19, and 7.90 % respectively. Fracture of the tibia in diabetes lead to aggravation of robustness disorders beginning from the 7th day of observation. By the 90th day elasticity modulus, ultimate strength, and fracture energy decreased by 4.78, 7.23, and 6.36 % respectively (in comparison with non-diabetic animals with fracture of the tibia).
