Abstract

Primary tracheal tumors are a group of neoplastic lesions in the tracheal region originating from the epithelium and components of the tracheal wall. This is a rather rare pathology, metastatic lesions and involvement of the trachea are more common in carcinoma of the lung and larynx. Carcinoma is often detected at advanced stages with the development of clinical manifestations. The incidence of primary tracheal cancer is 0,1–0,4 % of all malignant tumors. Treatment of primary tracheal cancer is a rather difficult task that requires an integrated approach to treatment. This article examines the etiology, pathogenesis, morphological aspects, methods of diagnosis and treatment of tracheal cancer, and also provides a clinical case of tracheal cancer in a man with metastasis to the lungs and kidney.
