Abstract

The interaction of equimolar amounts of 1,3-dibenzoyl uracil derivatives and p-toluenesulphonate of 2-(2- naphthyloxy)ethanol in the presence of excess of potassium carbonate in anhydrous DMF at room temperature for 24 h gives rise to 1-[2-(2-naphthyloxy)ethyl]-3-benzoyluracil derivatives. These compounds demonstrate moderate activity against varicella zoster virus in vitro compared to acyclovir.
