Experimental diabetes mellitus was modeled by a single intravenous injection of streptozotocin (50 mg / kg). A significant reduction in the area and perimeter of the pancreatic islets in rats with experimental streptozotocin-induced diabetes mellitus was reported. This finding allows us to use these parameters as the basic ones when characterizing the endocrine pancreas in rats with streptozotocin-induced diabetes mellitus.
