Abstract

Marked pathomorphological changes were revealed in the brain stem in experimental modeling of West Nile fever regardless of the route of infection. More severe degenerative changes were observed in the intraperitoneal route of infection. Comparative characteristics of the obtained results with pathomorphological changes in the brain stem of patients who died of West Nile fever bring us to an indirect conclusion that there is more pronounced similarity between these changes and those obtained on the model of intraperitoneal infection with the Astrakhan strain of West Nile virus.
