The aim of this work is to study the ability of GABA and its analog, phenibut, to provide a protective effect on brain vascular spasms. Centrogenic spasms were modeled by irritation of the zone of locus coeruleus. Reflex spasms were caused by irritation of the fibers of the left cervical sympathetic trunk. It was found that GABA suppresses centrogenic and reflex spasms of brain vessels. Phenibut intensifies the spasms of cerebral vessels of reflex origin, but, on the contrary, suppresses the centrogenic vascular reactions.
