Synthesis of the novel acetanilide nucleic acid bases derivatives

N-alkylation of nucleic bases and 5-(phenylamino)uracil with 3,5-dimethylchloroacetanilide readily proceeds in anhydrous DMF medium in the presence of potassium carbonate at room temperature. 5-(Phenylamino)uracil gives predominantly N1,N3-disubstituted alkylation product, unlike other substrates used.
