The alkylation of 2-aminobenzimidazole with anilides of chloroacetic acid in anhydrous DMF at a temperature of 20– 100 °C in the presence of potassium carbonate leads to the formation of N1-substituted derivatives with the yield of 49– 74 %, and minor amounts of symmetric N1,N3-disubstituted analogues.
