Alkylation of 6-methyluracil with toluolsulfonate of 2(2-naphthyloxy) ethanol

Abstract

1-[2-(2-Naphthyloxy)ethyl]-6-methyluracil and 1,3-di[2-(2-naphthyloxy)ethyl]-6-methyluracil were synthesized with yields of 19 % and 54 % by alkylation of 6-methyluracil potassium salt with p-toluenesulfonate of 2-(2-naphthyloxy)ethanol in dimethylsulfoxide solution.
