According to numerous clinical studies, the prevalence of caries in Russia reaches 88,71% by the age of 25, and with increasing age has been steadily increasing. Less common, but also worthy of attention is the problem of hypersensitivity of the hard dental tissues. According to the latest scientific data, 62,5% of the population aged 20–65 suffer from hyperesthesia. Hyperesthesia of the hard dental tissues often occurs due to structural changes in the hard dental tissues (e.g. erosion, wedge-shaped defects, etc.). In some cases hyperesthesia occurs without any visible changes in the teeth. To date, there has been no universal effective treatment for hyperesthesia of the hard dental tissues. Undoubtedly, caries preventive programs should be reevaluated and optimized. Therefore, the search for new tools and methods of caries prevention and treatment of hypersensitivity remains an urgent problem.
