THE EFFECTS OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND EXERCISE ON MENTALLY RETARDED CHILDREN: SURVEY RESULTS

Abstract

The data obtained from the questionnaires completed by 219 special education teachers working with students who have mental retardation (school type VIII), 134 special pre-vocational education teachers who work with students having mental retardation (school type VIII), 67 psychiatrists, 39 psychologists, and 24 social workers have shown that mentally retarded children are actively involved in sporting activities and exercise. However, evaluating the level of fitness in mentally retarded children is beyond the scope of the present research.
