Potentiating and restoring the optimum function after the exertion of training and competition, as well as developing specific qualities, is an essential component of training highly qualified sportsmen; this process includes administration of drugs as well. To assess the probability of side effects of a drug, one should know the drug well and consider individual specifics of the sportsman. Hence, one can suppose what possible side effects could there be. Here we face the issue of developing scientifically proven low-risk strategy of medical support of sportsmen as the exisiting risks can be only minimized on the basis of such a strategy and the evolving social practices with all ethical and legal issues resolved.
