A morphological study of the anterior and posterior parts of the hippocampus in elderly patients with chronic cerebrovascular disease resealed gender and asymmetric differences. A comparative analysis of the data showed that the most pronounced compensatory changes and damage in the hippocampus were observed in the anterior part. We observed morphological hemispheric asymmetry and sexual dimorphism of morphometric linear parameters of anterior and posterior parts in the hippocampus.
